North Monterey County Chamber of Commerce name Jennifer Roybal Business Woman of the Year!

Resolution made in support of the “Under The Influence And Under 21” project. (Supervisor Botelho) Approved by the Board of Supervisors - San Benito County  Supervisor Botelho indicated he had the opportunity to view the documentary and felt it was  important to support this item.  Supervisor Botelho indicated Ms. Jennifer Roybal-Marquez, Keith Medlin  of Seal Rock Inc. and Sheriff Curtis Hill have been invited to Washington, D.C. to present the video to  national figureheads such as MADD.  Jennifer Roybal-Marquez, President of Seal Rock Inc. came forward. Ms. Roybal-Marquez  indicated she would like to show the 15-minute version of the film and presented said clip. Supervisor Botelho commended Ms. Roybal-Marquez and Mr. Medlin for their presentation. Supervisor Botelho felt it was necessary to show the film and its impact especially since the subject  matter was directly related to underage drinking and its fatal consequences on our community. 

BOARD ACTION:  Upon motion duly made by Supervisor Botelho and seconded by Supervisor  Marcus, approved Resolution No. 2005-75 In Support Of The Project “Under The Influence And  Under 21.”  Motion passed unanimously. Supervisor Loe thanked Ms. Roybal-Marquez and Mr. Medlin for their hard work on this project  and hoped the visual imagery will help to drive home the message home of the consequences of drinking  and driving among the young people.  Supervisor De La Cruz also agreed the presentation was vital for the young people as one of his  nephews was involved in such a tragedy and noted these circumstances destroy families.  Supervisor De  La Cruz agreed if this film helped save one life, it was worth it.  Supervisor Marcus agreed with Supervisors Loe and De La Cruz.  Supervisor Marcus indicated  the impact is felt much more by the residents of a small community such as San Benito County and  wished them well on the trip to Washington, D.C.
